Death Star

Lego and Star Wars - a very fun combo for a cool kid turning five.  I used a ball pan to mold rice krispie treats into the shape of the Death Star for the topper on this 8" vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream icing.

How do you eat such a treat?
"Use the fork (um, Force), Luke!"

A Lego Birthday Bash

Here's to Mason - a big fan of legos who was turning eight.  Just the right number of candles to put into a giant edible lego block... and, so, a cake design was born.  These 5" building blocks were made of yummy rice cereal treats and covered in buttercream and fondant.  All the other lego blocks and the red lego ninja were made of sugar paste.

Mason's mom told me that one of the party guests asked Mason if his cake was made by the "Cake Boss."  I love it!

Down on the LEGO Farm

Yee haw!  Devils' Food cake with raspberry buttercream filling makes all the farm hands cheer.  Combine that with some edible LEGO characters and you have a barnyard birthday party for a terrific five year old.  The younger guests enjoyed vanilla cupcakes with chocolate fudge filling.

This sugar chicken was my favorite part of the cake!
